Pokemon Soul Silver working rom?

Hey there. I'm playing pokemon soul silver on an NDS emulator and whenever it reaches the event where Lyra is about to teach me how to capture pokemon the game stops progressing and my character just stands there frozen. I've tried adding the recommended action replay code (020DE16C E1A00000 020D3FA8 E1A00000) and it didn't work either. Does anyone know a working rom or a way to get around this please? Thanks.
